/No matter if you usually have the family over for Christmas dinner or just keep it to your household, Christmas Day is a day where your home uses up a lot of energy.
Whether earlier lighting, heating and cooking there are many times throughout a singular day where we will use resources more than ever before. When you think about it, you are not just cooking one meal for a small family, you are cooking a banquet with the cooker being used for many hours continuously. The turkey is a major part, but what about all those pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and parsnips to make up the full meal? It definitely all adds up with kids to entertain, dinners to prepare and those Christmas lights around the home giving the ambiance. Chances are you will not be looking forward to that final bill when all is said and done.
The good news is that keeping your energy usage down is not as difficult by use of a smart meter and following a few simple steps. Smart meters have a portable display to show how much energy is being used and how much is being spent on it. This allows you to be more cautious on when it is being used up and having a full breakdown on how it is being used.
So at least this Christmas you could be sure that the surprises are the ones gift wrapped under the tree.
