When coming up with ideas for furnishing your kid's bedroom, it's important to consider where they will study and do their homework. This is a big part of your life for the average teen, and having a decent desk space, which is comfortable, practical and maybe also cool is paramount!

Whether you have a small space to work with or a decent study area, there are great older kids' desks available now which suit teens. They also make a brilliant teenage birthday gift.

As a family with a child in this age group, in our experience the best desk for a teenager is definitely an adjustable height desk. We were recently asked to review the EZ Desk Air, Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desk and share our findings.

Why a Height Adjustable Desk?

A desk that can be adjusted to different heights is ideal for a growing teenager. It allows them to find a comfortable position for studying and doing homework. It's also an investment as it can be used for years to come. If the desk can be used as a standing desk, this is even better. This option of a standing desk can give them ample space and help young people stay active while they work.

It's also an essential factor in good posture and can improve focus and productivity in their school work. Sitting for long periods isn't good for adults or children and can cause back pain and other health issues. So an adjustable height desk allows you to switch between sitting and standing positions making your lifestyle a little healthier. Sitting for long periods is associated with a higher risk of obesity and diabetes. Whereas standing burns more calories and increases your energy levels by helping to increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain.

I didn't realise this benefit, but adjusting the height of your desk can help you position your computer screen at the right height, reducing eye strain and neck pain.

So how did we find this model the EZ Desk Air, Electric Height Adjustable Standing Desk? We looked at various designs but thought this looked like the best teen desk for us. This was due to the quality desk surface, it was light enough to be practical but sturdy with a wood top and metal frame.

We loved that it's wide enough to accommodate different tasks, so my son can be sat typing on a keyboard, or standing when on a video call with school. Having this option of an adjustable height desk allows you to switch depending on your energy levels after a long day or depending on the task in hand. This desk is electric and the height adjusts between 74-119cm.

We have the white stable work surface at the top but it's also available in a black frame with dark walnut which would be lovely in a home office.

There are two size options as well depending on how much floor space you have. My son's favourite parts so far are the cup and headphone holders!

Should you wish to programme your usual height requirements into the desk system, there are memory settings for so you have a faster adjustment to the desired position.

Stylish desk design

One thing we've noticed is that this is a great way of getting your older children to do their school work!

The modern design and clean lines make this the perfect choice for young adults who need their own dedicated space and a little bit of pride in their bedrooms. The top of the desk is wide enough to have storage for their school supplies, decorative items any gaming equipment and also to be used for a traditional writing desk.

Installation

The product arrives in a medium sized box and wasn't too heavy to move. The parts are labelled and individually wrapped. There are paper instructions which come with the items but we found it easier to scan the QR code on the paper instructions and then watch instruction videos as we built it.

There's a solid steel frame which is the first section to create but after that it was very straight forward.

It also comes with cup and headphone clips to attach to the desk. One of the most popular features!

Overall

We've found this to be not only a functional desk in a great size which suits our child's needs, but it also gives our son enough room to work productively and is a pleasure to use.

Although we use this with our teenager, this is the perfect desk for an adult to use for work, with everything you want in easy reach.
