20 King Charles III Coronation Events In Bromley and Kent
/The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is just around the corner, this will be a day to remember for us all, and especially our children. It’s an exciting time for the country and finding the best events to watch or take part in the celebrations is key.
With that in mind here are some events and places which have advertised that they are holding a Coronation celebration in Bromley and wider Kent.
King Charles III Coronation Events In Bromley and Kent
1. Coronation screening
The Coronation will be screened live at Queens Gardens, Bromley on Saturday 6 May from 9.30am, alongside a host of activities from the library service and Clip Theatre.
Enjoy a picnic with friends and family to mark the occasion, in the park where Bromley residents have traditionally come together for moments of national history.
There will also be face painting, storytelling with Sgt. Shout-A-Lot and Miss Royal Penny, a chance to make a royal crown, create your own bunting, or try on regal robes at the Royal Throne photo booth!
Afterwards there will be a puppet show in Bromley Central Library. ‘The King’s Dinner’ will be performed at 2.30pm in the small hall, 4th floor of the library.
A further screening of the Coronation is also taking place in Orpington, Market Square, which is being delivered by Orpington 1st BID alongside further activities. Find out more about the event.
2. The Bellegrove Social Club
On Saturday 6th May the social club is holding a Free Juke Box all day. There will also be a children’s party from 3-5pm. See details in the image below.
3. Afternoon Tea at The Warren
On Wednesday 3rd May there will be an afternoon tea in The Hayes Room at The Warren.
They will be offering a fabulous Afternoon Tea with fine finger sandwiches and freshly made individual cakes fresh from the kitchen.
Sit down times to be selected from 1pm, 1.45pm or 2.30pm
4. Coronation Day Celebration at The Warren
In addition, on Monday 8th May at The Warren there will another celebration. For the King Charles III Coronation from 12pm there is another event with no ticket or booking required. There will be live music provided by Everyday People as seen at the Jubilee Celebration and New Years Eve 2022.
There are a variety of food outlets, including; local company Salt & Slate, a Burger van, Ice cream, Tea & Coffee and of course cake! Bars will also be open on the day.
Beckenham Bouncy Castles will be on site with an array of inflatables to wow the most discerning of customers. Tapa Dance School will be keeping the children entertained with dance sessions and games with a performance to finish off the day!
5. Studio33 live at The Queens Head!
On Saturday May 6 2023 at 8:00 pm at the Queen’s Head Pub, Chislehurst, Kent. Studio33 are performing to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
6. The Cotton Mill
Join in celebrations of the coronation of Charles III and Camilla at The Cotton Mill, 10 Station Road, Swanley. This is taking place on Saturday May 6 2023 from 12:00 pm.
They will be showing the coronation live from midday. Then throughout the day there will be fabulous cakes, street food from The Cotton Mill Foodtruck, themed drinks, garden games and live music from the wonderful Steve Salt. Steve Salt will be playing live from 5pm.
7. The Bull’s Head Hotel, Royal Parade, Chislehurst
The Bull’s Head is planning lots to help you celebrate! Their garden bar & burger shack will be open as usual, as well as a special Coronation Menu, including some British classics such as a Ploughman’s lunch, available as a single or a sharer, as well as our special Cream tea, served with a plain scone, fruit scone, fruit jam, clotted cream & either a tea or a coffee.
From 3 until 7pm, there will be a brilliant singer; Millie, in the garden area.
They will be operating their 25+ policy, but families are allowed to join in with the celebrations.
8. Retro Rock Icons Coronation Weekend Party at The Partridge, Bromley
This iconic band will be featuring covers of hit songs by the likes of; David Bowie, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who, Cream, U2, Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, Blur, Oasis, RHCP, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy and many, many more!!
This takes place Sunday May 7 2023 at 8:00 pm
9. Make your Street Party Bunting
Make your own Coronation Street Party Bunting from donated and preloved fabrics rather than buying new.
If you have fabrics that you would like to use, you are welcome to bring them with you. If not there will be some provided. All ages are welcome but it is parents responsibility to support their children with the skills being demonstrated. An adult must remain with primary school aged children at all times.
The Hub is upstairs in The Glades next to HMV and Waterstones.
This event takes place on Saturday May 6 2023 at 2:00 pm.
10. Walnuts Shopping Centre Orpington
Join in the Coronation Celebrations in Market Square, Orpington on Saturday 6th May from 10am - 4pm to watch the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla LIVE on the Big Screen.
With a friendly atmosphere and amazing live entertainment plus activities for old and young to make the day really special.
Bring the family, pack a picnic or make a day of it with plenty of food and drinks options available for all tastes and budgets.
The usual market traders will also be here to support the event as well with selection of fashion clothing, flowers and plants, fresh fish from the sea, and many others!
11. The Downham Tavern, Bromley
Join them for a fun packed weekend to celebrate the Kings Coronation.

On Wednesday 3rd May at 11am the Messy Mucky Munchkins will be hosting a class full of mess to get your little ones in the spirit!

13. Art On Parade
This lovely art group would love to invite your children to a special art session. This will take place on Saturday 6th May, in the Ripley Arts Studio, (24 Sundridge Avenue, Bromley) from 9 till 10:30 (so you can get back to watch the big event at 11 o clock!)

14. Regal Riverhill Treasure Hunt
At Riverhill gardens there will be a royal-themed treasure hunt for all ages.
Collect a sheet from the Ticket Office and enjoy finding all the different crowns located around the Garden. Each one will be sited somewhere with a Royal connection. A wonderful way to learn more about the plants and history of Riverhill.
Then claim your special Regal Riverhill sticker.
This will take place 10am - 5pm. Saturday 6th May, Sunday 7th May and Bank Holiday Monday.
No need to book and no additional charge after our usual entry fee.
Those of you who don’t know the site, this is at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, Riverhill, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN15 0RR.
15. Coronation picnic in Knole's Green Court
Take part in The Big Lunch at Knole and bring along your own picnic whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Green Court. Play with giant games and have fun dressing up as kings and queens. There will be free craft activities for all to enjoy, including decorating your own crown.
Knole Court, Sevenoaks, Kent on Sunday 7 May 2023 at 11:00 - 15:00.
This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.
16. Coronation Street Party — Rochester Cathedral
The cathedral will be opening their doors all day on the 6th May for people to come and celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket to join others watching the Coronation. The Nave will be emptied of chairs allowing groups to picnic in the medieval Cathedral.
There will be one picnic bench with a difference available – The Jubilee Oak Table. The spectacular 13m long table is made from the wood of a 5,000 year old fossilised black oak tree. It was dedicated to HM Queen Elizabeth II for her Platinum Jubilee. This is a one-off chance for visitors to eat around this ‘Table for the Nation’. Seats around the table will be allocated on a first come, first served basis throughout the day.
The Cathedral will project the Coronation Ceremony itself onto screens inside the Cathedral.
The Cathedral will be open from 10am – 6pm. Admission is free but donations are welcomed. The Cathedral’s Café in the Crypt will be open between 10am and 4pm for anyone who fancies a cream tea or has forgotten their sandwiches.

17. Whitstable Coronation Fun Day and Market
Taking place on Sunday May 07 2023 at 10:00 am. Whitstable Castle, at Tower Hill, would love for you to join them in celebrating the coronation of King Charles III!
There will be a selection of food, craft and gift stalls, hot food, entertainment, music, bar, sweets, face painting and much more!
18. Kent Life
Join in the fun at Kent Life Farm and watch the King’s Coronation on a big screen in the Big Top! Sit back and relax as you drink Pimm's, devour a cream tea and take part in other Royal activities across site!

19. Leeds Castle Garden party
Celebrate the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, at the royal home of seven former queens of England for a right royal garden party!
Over the bank holiday weekend, visit Leed’s Castle on the Pavilion Lawn for classic garden games as you challenge friends and family to a game of giant Jenga, croquet and quoits.
Bring a picnic or sample the mouth-watering tasty treats from our various on-site food outlets, and relax on a deck chair as you enjoy the sound of live music setting the scene throughout the day.
Little ones can make their own royal crowns in the free workshop. Then children can choose their favourite outfits from the dress up station, pose for a portrait in front of our ‘instagrammable’ floral arch, so you can remember where you were on the coronation weekend for years to come.

20. Hever Castle
From Saturday 6th – 8th May, celebrate The King’s Coronation at the home of two former queens of England.
Bring along a picnic and revel in the royal atmosphere of the historic Castle and stunning gardens or purchase mouth-watering treats from the Moat Café.
Your little ones can get creative and decorate their own crown or shield in a workshop, plus they can get their face painted*.
**They will not be publicly screening the King’s Coronation.
