Here are 6 Easter Crafts for Sunday School Kids
DIY Paper Easter Egg Wreath
How do you feel about letting your kids be the main designers in your home’s Easter decor this year? This DIY Paper Easter Egg Wreath is the perfect way of letting them use their imagination to decorate your home through easy Easter crafts! It is simple to create and also has the potential to be incredibly pretty! Plus, anytime someone visits, your child can proudly announce that they, in fact, created it. Chatting about the Easter decor around your home is a great way of prompting chat and learning all about the Easter Story and the true meaning of Easter!
Simply take a paper plate and cut the middle out so you are left with a ring of paper. Then using offcuts of old wrapping paper or coloured paper and card, cut out egg shapes.
Once you have a good selection stick an egg onto the ring of the paper plate. Keep sticking more eggs all the way around until you’ve made a colourful wreath. Lastly, add some ribbon to the back of the plate so you can hang it up! My children make these each year and still enjoy doing it.
DIY Easter Basket
Do you give Easter gifts to the children in your extended family or other kids that are close to you? These DIY Easter Baskets are super fun to make and even more fun to give as gifts! They are also perfect for being reused for an Easter egg hunt. If you are a Sunday School teacher, why not get your kids to make DIY Easter baskets to carry resurrection eggs? This could tie in perfectly with a Sunday School lesson in the lead up to Holy Week for younger children and older kids alike. Click here to see the various ways you can make your own Easter basket.
DIY Washi Tape Easter Eggs
I love doing crafts with Washi tape, it is so forgiving! It is literally the best craft type to do with children who are still learning because if there is a mistake, you can just pick it up and start over. That’s why I love the idea of creating these DIY Washi Tape Easter Eggs. You will need tissue paper eggs and add leftover rolls of washi tape in various colours. You then just help your child wrap different colour pieces of tape around the eggs.
If you don’t have any Washi tape, you could use masking tape and have a go at decorating it yourselves. For the full tutorial on how to create these head over to Alice and Lois.
DIY Paper Plate Watercolor Easter Baskets
Do you have any extra paper plates lying around? If not, you can easily head to the dollar store for this craft! You can make all kids of fun things out of a paper plate, but for Easter Sunday, you can create adorable Easter baskets really simply! Your kids will love to see the transformation that happens when they create this fun Easter craft.
Grab a paper plate and draw a circle inside the plate which will be the base. From the edge of the circle draw lines out from the base to the edge of the plate.
Now turn over and let your child paint the outside of the plate with watercolours or any other paints.
Once dry, turn the plate over and cut long the lines you drew making sure you leave the circle in the middle intact.
Now fold each cut section of plate and bed it so it meets the next piece of cardboard. Staple together and then go to the next cut piece of cat and do the same. As they all are stapled together you will be left with a basket shape!
You can now add a strip of cardboard from one side of the basket to the other which will be the handle. Perfect Easter baskets for your egg hunt which the children made themselves!
Easter Bunny Paper Plate Craft
Another fun Easter craft that can be created with paper plates! This adorable Easter Bunny can be created easily and quickly with minimal adult participation (although depending on how old your kids are, you will likely have to be in charge of cutting out the designs). It’s amazing how your kids can have so much fun with this great craft idea with minimal parental input!
Turn over a paper plate and this side will be the bunny’s head. Help your child cut out long ears and then paint or colour inside them, to show the pinky inside of the rabbit’s ears. Stick the ears to the top of your paper plate.
Now get a little pom pom and stick on for the nose. If you have pipe cleaners use these for the whiskers! If not use ribbon or string and stick these to the cheeks of the bunny. Your child can then paint these themselves.
A quick and easy craft and lovely decorations for an Easter celebration.
Easter Gingerbread House
Okay so maybe you think this type of craft is just for Christmas. But did you know that Gingerbread Houses can be used for any time of year you choose.
Are you still holding on to any gingerbread houses from the holidays (or maybe you scored some good after-Christmas clearance deals on one or two)? If so, break it out because we are about to create a fun and delicious Easter Gingerbread House!
Easter Gingerbread Houses are the same as before but with colourful, spring themed decorations. So the main part of the house is constructed as normal.
Then think about adding gorgeous green icing grass, little Cadbury mini eggs. Icing which looks like flowers. You can also buy ready made tiny bunny heads and carrots made from icing sugar.
Let your children run riot with their creativity and make a beautiful Easter treat!
