Being stuck at home with the kids can sometimes get the best of you. You always need to follow their trail, clean up their clutter, and try to keep them from harm’s way. But staying in with your tiny tots isn’t as bad as it seems, especially when there are lots of fun indoor activities involved.

Don’t worry; help is on the way. Take a look at 10 exciting activities that children and parents can get busy with at home.

Move Your Bones

Being at home all the time won’t only encourage lazybones. It also bottles up kids’ energy and spoils their mood. Avoid this by exercising with your children.

Your kids can’t use dumbbells, of course, but there are a ton of YouTube exercise videos made for kids, from stretching routines to dance workouts. Most of them feature kid-friendly music and graphics to easily get children’s attention.

Get Crafty

Bring out the artist in your little ones with fun arts and crafts activities. Whether you use good, old-fashioned colored markers or include nature’s elements, like leaves and flowers, kids are likely to be natural at creating artworks.

Alternatively, you can buy a bunch of colorful beads and gemstones and jewelry-making supplies and craft stylish beaded accessories with the kids. There are tons of accessories you can make, including bracelets, chokers, earrings, hairpieces, necklaces, and ricks. You can even make beaded clothes and bags once you’re proficient enough.

Build Makeshift Forts

Kids love having their own magical fortress. Rip off the covers, and start creating blanket forts together. Go a little extra by surrounding the forts with Christmas lights to give off that magical vibe.

Build tepees, or go all-out by creating a castle with chairs and pillows. Add in some books and toys, and the kids will be off playing in their own world.

Sell Old Belongings Online

Each home is likely filled with lots of stuff that either doesn’t work or doesn’t anymore serve its purpose. One smart way of getting rid of them is to sell secondhand items online

How do you get the kids involved? Give them the freedom to declutter their own belongings as well. Giving kids something important to do gives them a sense of autonomy and responsibility. Plus, they’ll love the fact that they’ll earn money for their effort.

Organize Quiz Bees

If you think trivia nights are fun, it’s also likely the same for kids! It’s just satisfying to be able to get the right answer to a question. Plus, it also refreshes their memory of their lessons from school.

Kids have different interests, from American history to the Harry Potter universe. Using topics based on their likes and hobbies will encourage them to participate and do well during the activity.

Watch a Movie

Watch a movie together with the entire family. This means no one should be tinkering with their phones or doing anything else. Let it be a true bonding activity in which everyone is involved.

Choose a film the kids will love. Whether they want a Disney movie or a documentary about dinosaurs, give them the call. It may surprise you to discover how enjoyable their movie picks are.

Play with Bubbles

Who doesn’t love bubbles? Even adults love playing with them! A bubble party is a fun-filled activity the entire family will love for sure.

There are a lot of bubble recipes you can try at home. Bubble wands are easy to DIY. The kids can simply use straws, cups, or even fly swatters to create stunning bubble formations.

Visit the Garden

Let children explore the beauty of nature by taking them out to the garden. It’s a great way to introduce them to different kinds of plants, flowers, and even the little critters that may stumble upon your garden.

If the bushes need some trimming and maintenance, let the kids help. Just make sure they’re old enough to handle sharp gardening tools, if necessary.

Have a Jam Session

For kids who love singing and dancing, let them jam to their favorite music. Chime in with your own silly moves for a merrier session.

If you have musical instruments at home, take those out, and organize a mini concert with the kids. Otherwise, use toys or utensils to create some music (or some orchestrated noise).

Get Help in the Kitchen

Children love taking part in any mundane activity, such as cooking or baking. If they’re so interested in this activity, it won’t hurt to use another pair of hands.

Let them do the mixing or the cutting if they’re old enough. Even toddlers will enjoy shaping and moulding their own cookies and munching on the finished product after.

Live in the Moment

Whatever you do, every moment spent with your children is a moment well spent. Don’t sweat about it too much. After all, kids will appreciate whatever you do for them, especially when it’s done with effort and love.
