Using tastecard to visit our favourite Italian Restaurants
Disclosure: AD, this is a sponsored post, however all opinions are 100% my own.
As an Italian/English family, the next meal is being discussed before we’ve even finished the last one! So it’s useful to find places to eat out at a reasonable price. Saving me the cooking and some money!
Now that costs are rising and most of us are thinking more consciously about how we spend it’s important to look into affordable treats and entertainment options.
This week we’re trying a restaurant discount scheme called ‘tastecard’. We wanted to find out how much you can save on your bill and if there are options in your local area.
We will be searching out Italian restaurant deals in London, as we live in a London Borough.
So what is tastecard and can you get your Italian food fix?
How does tastecard work?
tastecard has been running for a number of years now and it’s likely you will have already come across it without realising. There are so many restaurants, cinemas and pizza delivery stores which offer discounts through the website or app.
When you become a member you gain access to special savings around the UK at cafes, restaurants, and tourist attractions.
One of their most famous offers is 2 for 1 on meals or 50% off your food bill at selected restaurants. There are also other discounts such as 25% off food and drinks at other eateries.
To sign up for the membership visit tastecard.co.uk/subscribe or download their app and add your details there.
Once you have an account you can search for your area, party size and much more, to get the best experience.
You book online at the website of the venue or through their app. Be aware, some restaurants like you to mention ‘tastecard’ when you book.
Italian Restaurants in London to use your tastecard
There are so many restaurants available we struggled to choose! However these are some venues we would happily visit again with their offers.
Unico Gelato & Caffe, 75 High Street, Bromley - 25% OFF total bill
If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love this cafe which specialises in desserts. Well known for their ice cream, they also serve Italian cakes, pastries and many flavours of authentic gelato! They serve one of my most loved dishes, affogato, which means ‘drowned’. It’s a bowl of gelato with a shot of espresso poured over the top…
Zizzi, 19 High Street, Chislehurst - 2 for 1 across all courses for 2 people per card
Always popular with us; is high street favourite Zizzi, as the food is very close to authentic Italian fare. Also with children they have a great selection for them on both the kids and adults menus.
Giotto, 50-54 New Oxford Street, Holborn - 25% OFF total bill
In a perfect location near Covent Garden, this is great for lunches or dinners around London’s attractions. This restaurant has a mouth watering selection of pasta dishes that keep my Italian husband happy. There are also a few extra options which have been adapted a bit to an English taste like Tagliatelle Alfredo. Pasta with chicken and cream, something which doesn’t exist in Italy but does taste good!
Isolabella, 45-46 Red Lion Street - 50%OFF food
If you’re looking for Italian food to impress, or to book for an occasion this is the place! They serve lots of seafood both as pasta dishes and fillets. There are more unusual items for the UK such as ‘fegato’ which is liver but these are commonplace in Italian menus.
For the less adventurous there are all the usual suspects you would want to order such as lasagne, risotto and pizza.
Mention tastecard on booking to get the discount.
Mangio, 30-32 Knightrider St, Blackfriars - 2 for 1
Another amazing Italian food spot and with a difference. Mangio Pasta & Bottega serves fresh pasta dishes cooked to your taste to takeaway and eat on the go. Or you can take it home and cook for yourself within minutes as they provide the homemade gourmet sauces.
Perfect if you want a decent meal while watching the Londoners go by, or saving you time that evening for your dinner.
Offering seasonal sauces such as tomato, chilli and bacon, butter and sage or spicy options, you can then add your favourite pasta like this week’s ravioli with ricotta and courgettes.
How to join tastecard?
So if all that delicious food has you wondering about joining tastecard, here are the details you need to know.
You can get a 30 day trial and signup for just £1! Cancel anytime or this will automatically renew at the annual rate of £29.99.
If you know you’d love an annual membership this is priced at £29.99.
Should you like to pay monthly the fee is just £3.99.
Average savings with tastecard are around £23 per restaurant meal, £24 per pizza delivery and £1.20 per coffee. So whatever you’re doing there’s a saving to be had. We really love the cinema deals and these are great in school holidays.
For ease of use we recommend downloading the app. You can then access all your savings wherever you are. I tend to show my app to the servers rather than having to carry another card with me.
I hope this has made finding some brilliant Italian eateries in London easy for you and introduced you to how to get some discounts. We all need fun moments out together and with tastecard you won’t need to give up those great days or nights out.
