Different Bracelet Designs

A varied selection of jewellery is great. But sometimes you find your favourite type of jewellery and you can’t get enough. I’m like this with bracelets, and if you understand then this is the post for you.

If you like wearing bracelets, you’ll notice that it quickly begins to seem like there are only so many options for designs for bracelets. This is where getting creative can lead you to some different bracelet designs.

One of the first things to search for is vintage jewellery. Vintage bracelets – and antique bracelets as well for that matter – are a great source of unique, well-made jewellery. There’s also made-to-order jewellery. A simple search online is bound to lead you to a variety of websites were both professional and hobby-crafter jewellers are more than happy to fill an order you might have for a bracelet that’s a little different.

But for now, let’s dive into a few different bracelet designs that you can find quite easily.

Chains

Chains are a very big part of jewellery fashion at the moment, both as necklaces and bracelets. In and of themselves, chains are not all that different from other kinds of jewellery. Wearing a chain as a bracelet, however, adds a lot of intrigue. If you’re looking to go down the route of giving new life to some vintage or antique jewellery, a lot of people are taking old watch chains and wearing them around the wrist.

Watch chains

Taken from the days of wearing pocket watches – are a great accessory to utilise as a bracelet. Often, the metal tab that once kept the watch attached to the waistcoat features another, smaller chain that hangs straight down. When worn as a bracelet, this extra few links hanging down is the cherry on top of the style cake. There’s also the option to wear several, slim chains. It sounds messy, but it works surprisingly well, creating a super stylish look that anyone would enjoy.

Bangles

Maybe it’s just me, but when I think of bangles, I automatically think of cheap, ugly, rounded plastic bangles that I remember being popular in the early 2000s. Today, however, bangles have returned, and thankfully they’re much better than they were 20 years ago. Stylised bangles are easy to come by, and can make for excellent statement pieces for the bracelet lover. Whatever you’re looking for in a bracelet, you can likely find it with bangles.

There are woven bangles, whether that’s material like leather being wound around something rigid, or a metal that’s been crafted to appear like two halves intertwined to make the whole. These are great for adding some subtle elegance to an otherwise plain look. Another type of bangle that represents something different is bangles that aren’t complete. Bangles that don’t quite touch to make a full loop, but manage to stay on the wrist through some wizardry, are definitely something special.

Gemstones

Gemstone jewellery is always a lovely treat, but sadly not seen in bracelets often enough. A bracelet coated in turquoise, or perhaps featuring a plethora of other coloured gemstones like amethysts, garnets, or tourmalines can add pops of colour to your looks that bring something exciting to any outfit. If you’re lucky, you could even find a bracelet that reflects the romantic jewellery styles of the Victorian period for a real selection of gemstones.

Special items

Sometimes called REGARD or DEAREST jewellery, these romantic pieces were essentially acrostic jewellery, where each letter of the word is represented by a gemstone with the same corresponding letter. REGARD jewellery features a row of gemstones, starting with a ruby, then emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, and a diamond. Can you imagine a more beautiful row of colours? DEAREST jewellery goes like this: diamond, emerald, amethyst, ruby, emerald, sapphire, tourmaline. You can imagine that having a bracelet like this is really something different.

These might only be a few ideas for different bracelet designs, but don’t let that trick you into thinking the options are truly this limited.

If you go looking for something unique in the jewellery world, you’ll find more than anyone could need in terms of ideas and beauty. Good luck on your own hunt for something different – and may your wrists always be providing something different and dazzling!
