Canvas Prints and Wall Art Ideas for your home with MyPicture

AD: This week I’m working alongside MyPicture.co.uk to share their wonderful canvas prints and homewares. All opinions are 100% my own.

We moved house a year ago and after fixing a few important functional things we are now on to the fun part. Decorating and making the house a home.

We love white or pale spaces as it brings in so much light but you do need that extra something to breathe life and inject some personality into your blank canvas. We didn't want to buy generic images but to find custom art which gives a nod to us as a family. It's great to choose pieces which have a personal touch and evoke memories as you pass them in the home.

An easy way to go about this is to have your favourite images printed. The first step is to find a great supplier and we chose My-Picture.co.uk as they had such a user friendly site and offer everything from wall decor ideas to photo gifts and lifestyle items such as cushions, tote bags and bedlinen.

So how do you go about choosing the perfect piece to brighten your walls?

Holidays

Travel always offers up plenty of photo opportunities. Being reminded of a lovely trip with personal photos or somewhere that feels like a second home brings back special memories and these can be a great addition to your blank wall. It can be hard to come up with diy wall art ideas but using your own images and focusing on the core values of your family and what makes you all happy can help you pick your pictures.

Using a combination of city maps, canvas prints or even a poster all grouped together can create a real focal point as a gallery wall. We have a city map for Lake Como where we got married. This type of unique wall art will always make you smile as you walk past.

Black & White

Changing art pieces to black and white can give a different atmosphere to a room and is a great way to show the seriousness of a moment in time. It could be a picture which makes your family stop every time they look at it or which makes your visitors intrigued. Black and white images make you want to linger on them a little longer.

There are times when you're in someone's house and you are captivated by beautiful family photos and you want to know the story behind them.

Themed

If like us you have quite a few photos on similar topics it works well to group these into themes when you hang them.

We have prints and canvas wall art on Italy where my husband is from. Then another topic which is our antics in London over the last 20 years which we hang in the dining room for lots of interesting ‘over dinner’ chats.

There is also a third grouping which is our pre-children trips when we were all fresh faced! It's a fun project to place these in different rooms and keep them in these themes.

Not only does it look great but it's a unique way to decorate your home and often you will get comments from guests as it's so easy to look at the entire wall and make sense of that part of your life.

So think about how your selection of prints makes you feel and which room in the house they would suit.

Creative Wall Art Ideas

Sometimes we know which photo or images we would like to hang but aren't sure in which format. At My-Picture.co.uk there are so many options; so you can fill your empty wall with a wonderful finished product.

Whether you would like a gallery wall or one larger print, there's a range to choose from; such as canvas wall hangings and prints on a wooden frame. If you prefer the look of acrylic paint, there are prints under acrylic glass and those with an aluminium backing to guarantee stability. For those who love a natural look you can have your images printed onto wooden board, with the grain subtly visible.

There are so many different ways to really personalise your home, bringing much fun and a modern look to any room.

Hopefully we've got you thinking about how to incorporate beautiful wall art into your home. Whether it's a guest room or your living room you have in mind, the only thing left to do is be inspired by your lovely photos!
