Do you have a little one starting daycare or maybe they are already attending and this is the week they go back?

There seems to be a never ending list of things to get done from buying, washing and ironing extra clothing, making sure they have spare tops for crafts. Checking their waterproofs still fit, to finding the right shoes and providing interesting lunch boxes! No wonder it can seem a little fraught after the holidays finish. 

We like to start the New Year organized and one item we would not be without is our stick on name labels. We use them for everything and they have saved us so much time, which as we all know is something us parents are short of!

Time Savers for Parents: Name Bubbles

One job we really dislike when the babies head back to daycare is sewing in the dreaded name tags? If you have also been putting this off, read on for our tips!

We’ve been using stick on name labels for a few years now and so we are more than happy to share how we find them. 

I’m not too bad at sewing, the husband is terrible. However, the amount of things that need to be labeled with your child’s name when they start daycare or have any activities is endless. So a product which will take one job off your hands is perfect.

 

How do they work?

They are waterproof, laundry safe, dryer safe and very long lasting. I can’t make this point enough. They really stick and stay on! I didn’t really believe it was possible for them to last through the washing machine and more but they do. 

We’ve used them in clothes, shoes, on snack boxes and water bottles. However, the ones I’ve found the most useful are the ones for baby bottles. 

These are write-on Baby Bottle Labels so you can send your little one off to daycare and know they will have their milk without any mixups. This has been a big plus point for us as our eldest was premature and it was so important to know he got the correct milk and quantity. 

These baby bottle labels are also erasable, and reusable. They come in three sizes and are dishwasher-safe, freezer-safe, and microwave-safe. You can tell they were created by a mom!

Obviously the best thing is when your children love the product too. Mine like to choose their designs now as they are very colorful and fully customizable.

Different aspects you can choose:

  • Background: The color, patterned or plain.

  • A motif next to the name such as a sport, animal, flower, star.

  • A first name or both first and surname.

  • Name font and color.

  • Add a phone number.

As you can see they take away a lot of the hard work and worry for us parents.

Especially for those last minute moments where you realize you didn’t label the Easter bonnet/ Sports Day/ Harvest Festival special outfit! We’ve all had those days! So I can’t recommend these labels enough.

We all know that a permanent marker is not so permanent when it comes to regular changes of clothes, and that these important items such as a child's bag, extra socks, a favourite toy and spare clothes all need to be labelled properly using label makers. It's a great idea to consider creating a packing list when it comes to your child's first day of daycare or your baby's first day to ensure that you have everything the child care provider needs. Your daycare center might require a sun hat, crib sheet, water bottle, enough bottles, an extra change of clothes, ice pack, burp cloths or even wellies for the rainy days. So it's worth contacting your daycare program in advance to ensure good housekeeping when it comes to the strict rules they have in place. We all know how many bathroom accidents can occur on a daily basis and having a good supply of extra plastic pants could make the difference in this big change in your child's life. You'll also quickly become the child's teacher favourite parent when you follow the childcare centres specific rules. Be mindful to consider whether your child has any food allergies so that you can pack a lunch box accordingly, and if you're little one is using their own formula or your breast milk you might want to consider a spare sippy cup or extra bottle should there be any spillages.

What else to pack for Day Care

When packing for daycare, it's important to ensure that your child has everything they need to be comfortable, safe, and well-cared for during their time at daycare. Here are some essential items to consider packing:

1. Diapers or Pull-Ups: Pack an ample supply of diapers or pull-ups, depending on your child's needs. Ensure that you also include wipes and any diaper cream or ointment your child may require.

4. Bottles and Formula: If your child is still on formula, provide pre-measured portions of formula in individual containers or bottles. Include enough bottles for the duration of their time at daycare.

5. Snacks and Meals: If the daycare allows, pack nutritious snacks and meals for your child. Consider easy-to-eat finger foods, pre-cut fruits, sandwiches, or other age-appropriate options.

6. Water Bottle: Provide a labeled water bottle for your child to stay hydrated throughout the day.

7. Medications: If your child requires any medications, provide them along with clear instructions to the daycare staff. Ensure that all medications are labeled properly and in their original packaging.

8. Sunscreen and Hat: If your child will be spending time outdoors, provide sunscreen with appropriate SPF and a hat to protect them from the sun.

9. Comfortable Shoes: Pack a pair of comfortable, closed-toe shoes for your child to wear during outdoor play or physical activities.

11. Communication Items: Provide a notebook or communication log for the daycare staff to document your child's activities, meals, and any important information. This can facilitate communication between you and the daycare staff.
