5 Bedroom Design Trends for 2020

Is your bedroom decor looking a bit tired? Would you love to refresh the mood and create a place of sanctuary? How relaxing we find our bedroom and how easily we drop off to sleep has a huge effect on your levels of energy each day.

Here are 5 Key Design Trends for Bedrooms in 2020 which you can implement in your own home.

1. Back to nature

Instead of trying to find relaxation apps and dehumidifiers to help you sleep and cleanse your room, choose a more simple solution. Many plants are healthy for homes and should be used in the bedroom, not just the main living areas.

Orchids and succulents take in carbon dioxide at night and release oxygen while you’re sleeping. Lavender and gardenia are great sleep inducers so think creatively. Your decor should include living things!

2. Grey fabric beds

In 2020 pure whites are being offset by stronger neutrals to bring some vibrancy to rooms.

Grey fabric beds are a great way to tie this trend into your new bedroom design. Not only do they look beautiful but grey is a versatile colour to work into the colour scheme. The fabrics can be as soft and luxurious as you wish such as this tactile crushed velvet.

3. Suede divan bed sets

One of the fabrics which is proving popular this year is suede. As people start to hunt for touches of luxury in their bedrooms, these beautiful, quality bed sets lift your room to another level of relaxation.

The bed is the focal point of a room and suede fabric beds with the raised divan base give the impression of splendour.

4. Switching off

The worst culprits for stealing our sleep are screens. In 2020 people are becoming more conscious of how technology affects their mental health and how to minimise it.

A key trend for this year is to remove excessive amounts of sockets and switches from your bedrooms. Moving TVs to living areas and using alarm clocks instead of phones.

5. Smart storage

On the heels of minimalism is smarter storage. Instead of shutting everything away that doesn’t bring you joy or getting rid of it. A trend for 2020 is to have smart storage spaces where uglier, but important items are stored out of sight. But where your favourite items are creatively on display.

If you have an eclectic collection of scarves you use every day these could be stored visibly in a stunning old dresser. However, your toiletries you may keep out of sight in plain fronted drawers.

If you’re a hat person, you could have a wall of these so you remember how many you have! But also to use as a more personalised decoration.
